Austin Community College District and Tesla launched the new Tesla START Manufacturing Program at ACC. This 14-week intensive training program is the first of its kind in the nation and will provide students hands-on learning and essential skills for a career in the dynamic manufacturing sector at Tesla.
About the Program
Develop technical expertise and earn certifications through a blended approach of in-class theory, hands-on labs and self-paced learning. Armed with extensive knowledge of Tesla products and service, Tesla START graduates are ready to hit the ground running on day one of their careers.
Earn & Learn
Participants are paid employees at Tesla while they complete the program. Upon completion, participants are eligible for full-time positions at Tesla.
Hands-On Experience
Participants work with new and advanced technologies such as robotics and control systems to design, build, and maintain advanced machines. You’ll work in specialized labs at ACC’s Riverside Campus.
Tuition Support
Students accepted into the program may be eligible for financial support to help cover the cost of tuition (up to 100%).

START Manufacturing Program Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Mechanical aptitude: ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
- Technical ability: Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Detail oriented: Strong organizational and follow up skills.
- Problem-solving ability: Ability to think outside the box to solve new problems
- Physical ability: Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
- Ability to maintain focus while working individually
- Ability to work quickly under pressure
- Versatility: Ability to thrive in an ever changing, and evolving environment.
Note: F-1 international students are not eligible to apply for this program.
