Study Planetary Processes and Prepare for a Bachelor’s Degree

Connect with the Earth more closely, discover potential geologic hazards, and analyze seismic activity through geology. Austin Community College’s Geology Program provides you with a physical, historical, and environmental perspective on the natural processes that shape our planet. You will complete this program with a strong foundation to continue your education at a four-year college or university.

How safe are our waterways? ACC students with the Geology program worked on a month-long summer research project with the National Science Foundation (NSF) Citizen Science Program to find out! Central Texas is known as flash flood alley, with places like Barton Springs pool closing frequently after severe rains. The NSF project aims to know when the water is safe to return to normal operations. The students’ research included collecting and analyzing water samples from Barton Springs Pool, GoValle pool and Northwest park to monitor water quality and study the impacts of flooding events in the region. See what they did and discovered in our recap!
