Earn a Certificate or Associate Degree in Sonography
Interested in seeing what is beneath the surface? Austin Community College’s Sonography Program provides two specialty tracks to provide crucial medical insights –– students must complete both the associate of applied science degree and an advanced technical certificate. You’ll leave with hands-on experience using high-frequency sound waves in ACC’s state-of-the-art ultrasound scanning lab to diagnose issues in organs, tissues, or blood flow.
Please note that the ACC Sonography Program has two specialty tracks with each track consisting of two awards: AAS in Diagnostic Medical or Cardiac Sonography and an ATC (Advanced Technical Certificate Level 4) in Diagnostic Medical Vascular or Cardiovascular Sonography. All students must complete both awards to complete their chosen Sonography Program.
The Sonography Program at Austin Community College is a special admissions program with limited availability. Students preparing for the program should select “General Studies in Pre-Health Sciences” as their major on the application. Because requirements may change, consult the program website to confirm current requirements. Admission to the college does not guarantee entrance into a particular course or program of study.

Accreditation
ACC Sonography Program specialties (DMS, DCS, and the ESC-VT) each are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (9355 113th Street North #7709, Seminole, FL 33775; 727-210-2350; fax: 727-210-2354; [email protected]; www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (6201 University Blvd., Suite 500, Ellicott City, MD; 443-973-3251; jrcdms.org).
